- January 06, 2024 I cannot thank Dr. Cole and his team enough for helping me get back to the sport I love. When I was 15 years old, I tore my meniscus during a volleyball game. It was beyond repair and had to be removed. I was a freshman that had made the Varsity volleyball team. I was the starting Libero. My year had been going great and then this happened. I went to a different doctor to have my meniscus removed. Only a 6-week recovery and I was back on the court!
But, when my sophomore year began, my knee was in so much pain and so swollen that I could barely squat down to dig up balls. Walking up and down stairs was awful. My coach told me to go for a second opinion. Before, I saw Dr. Cole, I went to another great doctor who gave me devastating news. I was told that I was doing irreversible damage to my knee and that my athletic career was over. He referred me to Dr. Cole and said he was the one who might be able to help me.
When I saw Dr. Cole, he told me he could help! Dr. Cole knew how important it was for me to get back on the court. In January of 2022, Dr. Cole and his team performed a combined Osteochondral Allograft and Meniscal Allograft with bone marrow concentrate injection for growth factors to help in the healing process.
Everyone was wonderful to me! It was a tough surgery, but if I had any questions someone would get back to me within 15-30 minutes. I am happy to say that I made it back on the court my senior year. As the starting Libero, I was an important part of breaking our school record with the most wins in a season. That same year, we won regional title, something that had not happened since 1995!
I earned an All-Conference honorable mention, and I have recently signed to play at Sauk Valley Community College in the fall. I owe it all to you, Dr. Cole, and your amazing team! You worked your magic in my knee to give me the ability to do what I love when I was told it was over. You are the best and I am so happy to have been referred to you! Thank you so much!
